Soccer or Football as it is known is a team sport played between 2 teams of 11 players. It is a world wide sport growing in popularity in Australia. To encourage the young boys and girls in the sport the local clubs often give weekly Encouragement awards and Football trophies or Soccer medallions to foster excellence. At the end of the season the committee selects Soccer trophies and Soccer medallions with ribbons to reward the young players after playing a season of Soccer games. Most matches produce only a few goals. If a player achieves several goals in a match or season he or she is bound to receive a football trophy to recognise their skill.
